Beyond the mouth
A healthy mouth means a healthier pet, from teeth to tail. Here’s what happens.
Just like humans, soft plaque can build up if left unmanaged.

Why it matters: Bacteria in the mouth can spread. Good oral hygiene helps keep the whole body healthy and happy!.

Building a routine
Not every pet takes to brushing right away. Patience and positive reinforcement go a long way.

START SLOW
Let your pet sniff, lick, and taste the toothbrush and toothpaste to become familiar with them before you start brushing. Gradually increase contact over several days.
Pick a pet toothbrush and flavoured, pet-safe toothpaste for a comfortable, fun routine.

If brushing is still a little tricky, opt for alternatives. Try dental wipes to gently remove plaque from teeth, oral gels and water additives to help fight bacteria.

KEEP SESSIONS SHORT
Build up the length of sessions slowly. Even 15 seconds is progress! Ultimately aim for two minutes, with 30 seconds for each quadrant of the mouth. Brush in circular motions on a 45-degree angle.
MAKE IT POSITIVE
Pair every step with treats and praise to encourage a positive association with the brushing process and to build trust.
Use a special post-brushing treat to make it extra rewarding.
